FLORIDA!!!!!ALWAYS SUNNY SIDE UP!!!

I'm going to pick up 4 more WFBS today from Spring Hill Conservatory!

Jess, I'm gathering an egg a day from that sweet Harley.

I caved and joined FB, people. Now what do I do with it in regards to CHiCKens?? Cuz, otherwise, what's the point???

YAY! I am glad that she is laying well :) I can't wait to hatch those sweet babies!

I know, I've shaved butts, increased sunlight and protein, and Goliath has two other roosters in the yard to show him how it's done! We'll see what they look like again in a few days.

It'd be great to meet you!

and...
STAN... your rooster is constantly trying out the nesting boxes... I've yet to see him lay an egg. What's up with him? I think he's "on the fence" if you know what I mean...

Hey, I'm doing whattever I can to get that bullseye! I've asked a few folks with cochins for advice and that was what they told me. I wasn't happy to do it, and they weren't happy about it!!

You are doing the correct thing to get fertile eggs. You always pluck/trim the female around the vent and up on the hens and around the vent and below on male Cochins. That way when they breed there are no feathers that get pushed into the area to cause a barrier. If I don't do that I have to AI. The one thing to watch is if he is a good breeder. I had 1 fantastic show male that was shooting blanks. My girls layed fertile eggs when I put a different male in that breeding pen.

Let them laugh and know you are doing the right thing.

I drove out to Spring Hill Poultry Conservatory today, got 4 more WFBS, and got the grand tour as well. Sandy has some beautiful birds, some stuff I never heard of like a jungle fowl with a red and yellow comb and some peacocks whose feathers but regular peacock feathers to shame!!! She even gave me some buckeye eggs and 1 creavacour (sp?) egg! (I'm buttering up Jess with that last one, hoping to hang onto her Harley for a long time.. )
