FLORIDA!!!!!ALWAYS SUNNY SIDE UP!!!

Hi! I am in Tampa and fairly new. We have enjoyed our three (2 BR and 1 Golden Comet) so much we added a fourth (BO). These chickens have been contagious and now we have neighbors thinking about getting some. By-the-way, when I was deciding on the fourth I found a guy advertising on Craigslist who had Salmon Faverolles in Citrus County.

to Chicks on DL, splashangel and SunkissedChicks!!! Glad to have more Florida chicken neighbors!

As for ticks, don't the chickens pick them off?
I haven't noticed a problem with the chickens but the dogs sure are itching and yeah, Advantage and Frontline are no longer effective. Take care wiht Comfortis though, three years back my highly flea allergic elderly dog was given a dose and she was dead within two days. It seems it's not safe for sick or elderly animals. I'm afraid to give it to my dogs now just in case. I hate giving them anything that stays in their system like that anyway but the pills really scare me.

Beware of Advantage too, it killed my 7 yr cat.

Welcome to BYC!

I'm in Palm Bay!
True, you have to be careful of these things. A vet sold me a carpet flea spray that killed one of the best dogs I've ever owned, not that they would admit that the product could have done that. But, fleas and especially ticks carry their own arsenal of problems, so keep trying!
