FLORIDA!!!!!ALWAYS SUNNY SIDE UP!!!

Happy Thanks Giving to all !!!! I was wondering what my fellow Floridians were doing or not doing to cover up the chickens during some cold weather we are about to have?

We are supposed to have highs in the low 70's and lows in the 50's so I probably won't do anything for my adults but for my youngsters in the grow-out tractors I will probably wrap them up with tarps at night, and may bring the youngest ones inside...it was 50 last night and they did fine though, so I will just keep an eye on them and if they seem uncomfortable then I'll bring them in...

You must live south of me. We were at 43 last night. Saturday we're suppose to be in the 30's. I am wondering if just wrapping up the kennels in aviary plastic would be enough

No chickens yet. Doing my research and have decided on 4 hens, not sure what type yet, and the size coop with run I intend to build. Going for tractor set up. Any input on what breed is best for my aria. Looking for someone in the Keys who might be willing to let me look at there set up. Doesn't look like there are any BYC member in the Key but there has to be people with coops. I'll find them. JimO

Check out the coops tab at the top...there are at TON of ideas there, though most are built for colder weather, there are some that are designed for hotter climates. I think most of us in FL go with more of an open-air setup. The hoop coop with plywood at the back and a tarp to protect from rain is a good one for FL...they seem to withstand wind pretty well too due to the design. I'm going to be building several in the next couple of weeks for my breeding pens
