Congrats on your first egg!

I am by no means an expert, but to answer your question about nesting, I put hay in the nesting boxes ( I have two boxes). Mine are at the back of my a-frame mobile coop and I don't put anything on the ground because we move it about once a week for the grass to recuperate ( ha, ha, I made a pun! ). All my chickens seem to lay their eggs in the same box though. I see them occasionally in the other box, but they have never laid an egg there.

I use old milk crates as nesting boxes and put shavings and pine needles as the bedding.

If you got the chicks in March then they would be about 5 months old. Do you have any nest boxes? I have used spanish moss and hay in my nest boxes. They do kick the hay out sometimes.
The pullets should start laying from 20 to 24 weeks.

Hello fellow floridians. I am looking for some mourning doves and some ring neck and peach doves. Does anyone have any or know of anyone in the north central Florida area? I live in Live Oak. And thank you in advance for any help.

I am in Polk county right on the line of Plant city... off walker rd. I have 7 chickens in my back yard. Its mostly farm around here. Plus there are tons of homes for sale/rent. Check it out!

I have a roo that is getting its butt kicked! I need to find him a new home. Not sure what he is but he is pretty! He is about 3 months old. I am in North lakeland. Is anyone interested in my area!? His name was bridgette until I decided that she is probably a HE!

FREE CHICKEN! I would like him replaced with a female.. but I know most people wont trade a pullet for a roo!

Thanks!

DeLand (between Daytona and Orlando). If there is anyone in the DeLand/Central Florida area interested in sharing chicken-raising tips with me (we're getting our first chickens next week!), please message me. Also looking for coop-building materials for sale, not at hardware store or farm store, just from individual sellers so it's cheaper. :) Thanks!

I'm in DeLand, getting Cochin MIXED chicks from a lady down that street. She says they are mixed with Araucana. You can send me a message if you're interested and I can ask her if she's looking to sell more or give away more baby chicks for free.
