FLORIDA!!!!!ALWAYS SUNNY SIDE UP!!!

For a year or so, my daughter put up with my "chicken addiction". Somehow the tide has turned. I think it just takes a while sometimes. She tells me how her husband and my son would talk for hours about my chickens, pens and coops and how to predator proof them. This surprised both me and my daughter. She got to know a few of my chickens and when they became (bob) cat food, she was visibly upset!

Who knew?? She admitted she thought I was crazy, but she is beginning to see the light. She even borrowed my little Pocketful of Poultry book so she could show her friends and co-workers all the different breeds of chickens. She cannot keep chickens where she lives, but she does come over more often to see how the pens are coming along. She has finally learned that they are NOT JUST CHICKENS, easily replaced by new ones. She has learned what goes into having to buy, care for them, get to know them as individuals. She now tells whoever will listen to her that they are NOT JUST CHICKENS!!!

I'm not too sure. Some people use BOs and BAs as dual purpose birds. I have a friend who will take the males. I may keep one as well. I have one that's not doing so hot. Unfortunately that happens sometimes. =/

Oh yeah that's right, BOs are for meat as well. Arg! Can't win!

In any case, I've been doing some research on the sexing accuracy. I am going to go in for an order at efowl or mypetchicken. I'd rather go to efowl because their minimum order quantity is much less. Going to try for BOs and BAs. Would anyone be interested in going in with me for chicks?
I also am going to go for the older EE that is sexed female from someone on Craigslist. I would get them online but they are not available soon enough and I read that the sexing accuracy seems to be a bit less than the others....

This week, I received my very first mail order chicks.
7 BLR Wyandottes and 11 Olive eggers. They got here in 12 hours, beautiful and healthy!
I have been trying to find if Luanne D'Amico (Eight Acre Farm in Alachua FL) is on BYC. I found her here on someone's recommendation,
but I forgot who it was or Luanne's name on this forum. Maybe someone can help here.

I have hatched some more Wheaten Marans, and of course I have some males I need to get rid of. Two at 3 weeks old and then some more will hatch (i'm sure more males than females) on Valentines Day if all goes well.
Diverse bloodlines - (not bred to sibling or sire) - and the Price is Right!

I think Runawaylobster might could hook you up with some non-related females if you wanna have a go at this breed!

Used to but last week my Wheaten flock went to McPherson farms in Ft. White. she may be able to help with wheatens. Now i am just focusing on the black coppers and blue coppers but I do have some blue wheaten Ams, Lav Orpingtons and soon some CCL's..

black tailed buff marans are still without a rooster until one of my chicks grows out.
