Thank you! I joined the Plymouth Rock club this year and have started off with Bantam Columbian Rocks (shipped eggs from Dick Horstman), but I know it will be difficult to work with that color pattern. Whites would help me learn to develop type and I would be able to offer the 4-H & FFA kids in this area some quality Rocks for their county fair. Here's some pics of my bantam Columbian Rock cockerel and 3 pullets:

HOLY SMOKES! that looks like my mystery rooster we thought was a delaware. Dunk has always said it wasn't. Mine looks like that to the tee............... I got him in some assortment of swap eggs from someone here on BYC. i gotta take a picture of him!!! Mine is a standard though

I need a penciled rock bantam roo! I have a girl right now & she is lonely................

Thanks for joing the club. Do you have the articles we wrote on breeding the Columbian Rock color pattern? If not I will send you some.

We just finished the news letter tonight. Will be emailing it out tomorrow. bob Sec Rock Club

I have a chicken that needs a mercy killing here in Volusia county, she was attacked by some strange dogs. I ran them off and she had a cut on her so I put her in a cage and have been caring for her. But she can not stand at all and she needs to be put down. The problem is I can't do it, I know it is the right thing I just don't have it in me. I would be grateful to any one nearby that could do it for me. Tara

At least we don't have to deal with trying to feed/ clean up/ keep water from freezing in the crazy cold temps like other folks on here! I honestly think my chickens might end up starving if it were 10 degrees and icy outside.

And I got to wear my ankle-length wool skirt today.

I know, I can't complain but I'm still cold. I can't wait for warmer temps.
But yea our chickens water won't freeze and they are free ranging out side right now, they can handle this, I'm so happy for them

I had a hawk get one of our almost grown pullets on Saturday... now I am afraid to let them out to range. Does this happen when it gets cold and the hawk's normal food is hidden away keeping warm, or are we just likely to lose birds to hawks now and then? Any advice would be great. Thankfully the coop/run are very secure, but we prefer to let them range during the day. Thanks, Jess
