Brinsea 1 -- first set of EE covered by Blue Arucana roo are set to lock down tomorrow

Brinsea 2 -- Call ducks went in tonight, 26-27 days till they hatch now

Brinsea 3 -- second set of EE covered by Lav Arucana roo going in tomorrow

second round of call duck eggs coming next week (snowy) will set these in Brinsea 1 after first EE finish hatching

quail eggs due to ship to us at the end of April and will enter the hatching rotation

This leaves us needing to build 4-5 wet brooders for ducks and 1 or 2 dry brooders for chicks and the flight pen enclosure for the quail (not needed right away-Junish) as well as the other 12x12 duck flight pen, the arched front duck pen (grow out pen between flight pens) and the new pen for the chickens.

Will have ducks and chicks available as well as a few quail May-July if there is something you are looking for.

Only easy thing about new girls was bedtime. About 10 minutes before others go to coop at night, these flighty girls played followed the leader and marched together into pen and then into coop without any encouragement or help. Amazing. They definitely have a leader....the 1 that kept getting into both mine and neighbors gardens.

Glad that ordeal is over. Not sure what we are going to do about their wandering behavior and penchant for getting into fenced garden areas. Neighbor has named them,: Stew, Fricasse, Dumpling and Salad.

Hey guys and gals...
My barn owner where I board my horse has given me permission to have a swap at the barn!!! She's secretly hoping to add some new ducks and geese to her family, and possibly some chickens to her tiny flock of 2...I personally just like browsing at what's out there...(I don't need more chickens...I don't need more chickens...I don't need more chickens!!! Yea, that's really gonna work...NOT)

Anyways, my barn is in Pinellas Park (Pinellas County...west, central FL..i.e. Tampa Bay area for those who don't know where we are)...Please keep in mind, this is a private horse boarding barn, so we have to be respectful and not have people wandering outside of the swap area and messing with the horses...for their safety and ours...(sorry, had to say it

Anyways, since there was just a swap in St. Petersburg a few weeks ago, I was thinking of holding off a little bit before having another one in this area...(plus I work on the weekends, and have lots of OT this month and the beginning of next month, so I can't take a weekend day off anytime soon...) That being said, I want to start putting out feelers now to see what you guys thought...when you get a moment, can you please let me know the following:

1) Preferred day- Saturday or Sunday?

2) Preferred month (June, July, August?) Please keep in mind that it's hot as heck during those months, and the pasture we are being allowed to use has a whopping ONE tree in the middle of it, and it doesn't provide a lot of shade :-/ Portable canopys and stuff would be allowed...I just don't want to see any animals getting overheated...

3) Do you want this to be kept to poultry, or also include small livestock such as goats, mini horses, rabbits, etc?

4) Would you be interested in maybe making this event some sort of fundraiser for a local 4-H or animal organization, and if so, would people be open to paying a small fee for space that would go 100% to whatever organization? Thinking something like $5-10...or is it tacky to do that?!

I can't really think of anything else to survey right now because I'm tired...lol...if anyone else thinks of anything, please let me know...

No, it is just unincoorporated Pinellas - the rules there have no bearing on most of Gulfport, St.Pete, ect., unless your property just happens to fall in an unincoorporated zone. Which I didn't even know that could happen.....

Thank you for clarifying that! If/when I get the opportunity to move, I'll know to make sure I'm settling in the city limits. Weird ,isn't it , that cities would be less restrictive.

I would love to check out his chickens but John says until these 4 new girls go I can't have any more. Says he built pen and coop for 12 hens, so that's it. Phooey!!!! New girls are much better this morning, but I still can't have them getting into gardens and wandering off..............still tired from chasing them last night.
