Hello, we live in Gainesville. We have 3 chickens, no roosters because of the noise ordinance. Our hens are 8 weeks old. We are new to keeping chickens and loving it so far. My husband built our chicken coop and the ladies moved in last weekend. I am suprised so far by how many people enjoy keeping chickens as pets. We just love this website, thanks!

Hey everyone.. I want to get some Marek's vaccine for my little home flock (I think one of my 6 week olds might have it) but I don't have enough chickens to use it up. It's expensive to ship and comes in large quantities. Is there anyone that has some locally or knows where to get it? (brevard county) I would love to split cost with someone if you are interested in sharing.

Advice needed, my 2 new RIR hens are still not laying, can anyone tell me what I can do to get them motivated. The rest of my flock is laying everyday and new girls are well established into flock.

Hey Carol,

What feed are you offering? Is there grit and oystershell available free choice? Are you still having problems getting the one to go in at night? How is the roosting situation, and could they be laying outside the nest box?

Jess,

if you suspect desease you need to quarentine and seriously concider culling. Now with that said what makes you thin there is something wrong? If the chick does have it you need to keep all new hatches far away, and be sure you practice bio security to prevent spreading. Where have you looke fo the vaccine so far?

Where in G-ville are you and what are the local ordinances there? We are thinking about moving up that way and it would be good to know what the law allows.
