Jess,

Back AWAY from the bator! LoL. We don't seem to have much of a market locally on CL for chicks, careful or you will be way over run soon.

Shellie

HAHAHA... yes I KNOW.. well, this is my LAST LAST LAST hatch for a long time. I am not even going to look at the eggs for sale.. these good deals just kept falling into my lap!

We have 20 newly hatched call ducks, white and gray. Pastel call in another bator to make thre colors of breeding stock next year.

EE chicks from an EE pen with a Levendar Americana roo that are getting so darn big. Need to take pics to share their color is amazing!

Second set of EE's just hatched last week, not as thrilled with their color so far, but they will grow out and we will see what egg color they produce.

Also adding in Sebastopol geese for next year, have a grey female adult coming from Holerreads and searching for a male for her now. Add this to our African Geese and Rouen ducks and Silver wood ducks, mandarin ducks too and we have a large set up come next spring.

Going to build an open air warm weather coop to split flocks apart, and brood in the coop and feed building.

Lav and black split Lav are in the plans, but will take time to get quality stock from good sources.

I am working an Olive Egger pen as well, just bought from a great breeder so looking forward to what they produce next year.

Hey, my chicks are now 2 months old and are enjoying being outside, especially out of the coop. Now I am wondering when I should start looking for them to start laying eggs? Can't remember if it is 5-6months of age or older? BTW, there are RIR, EE and maybe 1 BO. Thanks!

Hello All! I'm a newbie to the list and to backyard chickens. I'm up in Tallahassee. I grew up around chickens at my grandparents farm, but I'm excited to have some of my own. My husband and I want to start with chicks. Any suggestions on where to go to get them near here?

This forum seems to be a great resource. Thanks for sharing, everyone!

ItsAZOO32 if you were closer I would absolutely help you thin your flock.

I wish you were closer but YES.. 4 hours is a LOT for chicks when you can get them locally. I would start with the Auction area. Lots of people with chicks/chickens for sale these days.
