FLORIDA!!!!!ALWAYS SUNNY SIDE UP!!!

I need some positive egg vibes this way..

My first hatch was March 17th 2011. One of the youngins from that batch laid their FIRST egg yesterday.. ALAS. .it wasn't one of the one I kept

SOOO.. a few of my girls may be super close to laying. I have the nest boxes open and ready to go and no eggs yet. Fingers crossed!

That would be Jersey Giants. See my previous post (#2844 on p.285) re: my three Blue JG roo's, and the picture of "Big Boy". So far they are 8 weeks old, and I've decided to keep both pullets - they are SO Sweet. But they do grow out slowly, which is why they are no longer used in comercial meat production. Of the ones you listed, the Plymouth Rocks and Marans (always has an S at the end) are dual purpose. I don't remember if Wyandotts are. My Marans would also make a great roast, as she is 8 pounds, but she has saved herself - despite her mean personality - by laying a lovely brown egg almost daily.

There are also swaps online here on this website for eggs and some other things. Just do a search for Swap. There are sometimes people selling the egg crates in the Buy/Sell section of this site also but splitting a shipment with someone close sounds like the way to go price wise! Great idea!

As for selling eggs, I wouldn't recycle store cartons without blacking out the info on the top, but I'd darn sure accept "donations" to my feed fund from anyone wanting eggs.

That would be a great experience. These guys will be BIG. I swear Big Boy is as wide as he is tall! I will be taking them all to the swap in Ocala next Saturday. If I happen to be headed your direction before I find takers for them, maybe we could arrange something. Let me look at a map.....

I just want to find someone that will do processing for me

I give you 3-4 roos and I get back fewer prepared birds

I think that would be great!

That works, too! Great idea.

Ok so I emailed the people you were talking about so I could get my license or permit to sell the eggs for "Ag Use" and they are giving me a bit of a hard time. Any chance you have the information of the person you talked to? Thanks!

Just acquired 2 Pekin Drakes And 2 Pekin Hens from a lady who could not afford to care for them due to loss of income. They all appear healthy and will be comming to the swap so bring an offer.. prefer to sell as pairs though.
