FLORIDA!!!!!ALWAYS SUNNY SIDE UP!!!

Stan... I may take you up on that. Manatee Co is not that far from us. My daughter is a vegetarian but she said she'd eat him, she was so mad when he attacked her--three times that day!

Rosas Farms, in Ocala, sells grass fed beef, free range chickens, and a lot of other excellent organic meet (wild cod, grouper, shrimp, when they can get it) and they deliver for free throughout Florida. Some of their stops are Gainesville, Tampa....I believe somewhere south, but Im not exactly sure, around Orlando somewhere I think.

OOooh, thanks! I know about Rosas farms, but I didn't realize they delivered! I really want to go on a Saturday when they have out samples. They have a great merch list & they seem like a well run operation.

SOAPBOX TIME1

Why it is allowable for people to have pit bulls and other animals that atttach and kill, but we can't have a few chickens for food and entertainment. Which is the smarter and better pet. Not the killer.

These sorts of topics are best saved for separate threads as they quickly become contentious and are often locked.

This has been a very long running thread so it would be a shame to have it shut down for that reason.

Maybe I could talk her into taking more than one then! Ha! Seriously, I have 3 or 4 that are 4-5 months old, and just starting to think about crowing. I've already made my pick, and would love to see these guys go to a place where they could be used as breeders. They are really good birds, plus I would not have to process them! ......stan

I have 4 mixed-breed cockerels that are ripe & ready for processing, actually have been ready for several weeks now, I just haven't had the time when the weather has been cooperative. Plus, I reallyreallyreally am not looking forward to doing the work in all this late-summer steamy buggy HEAT.

But I got some inspiration today at the feed store, after seeing how much the price of feed has gone up I'm more eager to stop feeding & start eating some of these guys. I have another dozen growing up towards the table, I let them free-range all day in hopes that they'll find more of their own food and eat less boughten feed.

Let me know if anyone wants to come to western West Palm Beach to watch/learn how to process, or to bring your birds here to process. I have a good set-up for doing small numbers of birds, a convenient frame with cones and a comfortable table set up in the shade. I *think* that I will do these 4 guys on Monday, ya hear that rainstorms? Stay away until after noon, at least!
