Thanks for the report on the fair Maye, I was planning on going and backed out, partly because of the weather, and partly because it cost me a lot of money to go last year, ( including the speeding ticket) . Looking forward to the show in March. I need to decide pretty soon if I am going to enter. I have a few Barred Rocks that I would like a judges opinion on. I have never entered and this is a good opportunity with a 1 day show so close by. ......stan

Yes they have. Except for 4 of them, the rest are now the same size as mine. I told you pullet egg chicks catch up fast. LOL

Just checked the thermometer. It reads 31 already. I hope everyone is ready for the deep freeze.
I even turned off the water in the barn. I'm not fixing pipes this year.

Not with my record. Finally rehomed all the unwanted roos last week. Had one of the locals tell me to incubate them hotter and I'd get more pullets. Didn't have the heart to argue with her. You can't argue with mentaly challenged anyway. LOL I keep chicks in the house 1wk except when we get rogue cold fronts like this. I got new chicks coming next week and these should have been in the barn. Oh well......... Can't believe it was 80 + last week.

No water in the house and we had left the water running! ARghghghghhg! Late for work now.

Ref the fair, I didn't see any tagged with lice/mites notes. I went on Friday, maybe they hadn't noticed yet. But I did notice how a lot of the birds weren't very good quality and even some birds entered as RIR when they were clearly production (as their notes said!). There was a chicken blind in one eye that you could tell just from looking at it that it's eye was off. Who would enter that?? Kids? A lady there with the rabbits said she thought all the entries were 4H and FFA. The chickens all looked stressed and miserable. Many were panting with the heat. I felt really bad for them in their little cages far away from their flocks, surrounded by strange and hostile birds and loud, obnoxious people.
