Hi I live in Iowa. I am moving the last of my daughters stuff to their new home in Oldsmar (Clearwater) soon. My wife and I have thought of relocating closer to our grandkids. Are there many poultry clubs and shows in Florida? I raise and show Cochins. I will not consider moving if there is not active showing and poultry opportunities. What do you have to pay for good feed? Advice appreciated. .
Thank you
Craig

Welcome!

Reach 500, date Feb. 29 2012. I am in Bunnell Fl. on the east coast.

is this what you guys are looking for?

The Central Florida Poultry Breeders Association show is Saturday, March 3rd @ Tampa State Fairgrounds, 4800 US Hwy. 301 North,
Tampa, FL 33610. Entries will be $3 per bird (single show this time). Judges will be Paul Kroll and Bill Zieh, both from New York

No, I was looking for the show/sale in okeechobee for chobeemom. She is looking for an opportunity to get some quality layers or different breeds. Isn't there one down there once a year for 4H folks?? ...stan

Hello nice Florida people. I am also looking at maybe purchasing a small place with a few acres in your beautiful state. I currently live in Ohio and have bantam cochins, and they go where I go. I'm nearing retirement and would love to start my search now. I don't have a clue where to even begin since I've only visited the beach areas on vacations. If anyone could suggest any areas with homes/small acreage and reliable local realty companies I would really appreciate it.

Thanks in advance

Thanks for looking Stan. Hopefully once things slow down around here for us we'll be able to make it to a few swaps soon. Our youngest just turned a year old so it'll be easier to leave him with grandparents for a weekend...

On another note... What kind of predator what leave like uprooted ground near/around our run. (We kinda live near woods...) We were thinking a bobcat originally when our chickens disappeared, but now I'm not too sure. Any suggestions??

I don't know if you are looking for a small town or not. But I live in Okeechobee & I love it here. Nice & quiet, yet close enough to the coast to be able to spend a day at a beach or go shopping... Good luck in your search!

If you see anything that looks like claw tracks it's either a bobcat or coon. But most likely a coon.Does it look like a cat covering up it's poop.If so then it's a coon.

No tracks that we could find today, but we have kept our remaining chickens locked up pretty tight the last couple of days just to be on the safe side. Foghorn is definitely not happy about not being able to free range, but he is loving his extra treats and so are our 2 broodies & the 2 dom babies. How are things in your neck of the woods??
