Alright guys, we might have an organic non-GMO feed person starting here in NE Florida. He's apparently in the producing and getting it ready stage, but said he should be within production in 2 months.

His idea is a high protein (45%) feed that should be supplemented heavily with vegetables to balance it all out. So it's more like a supplement than a full feed.

He's also talking about taking one where there's dried veggies already in it so it brings the protein down to 20%. He will have several versions available like most feed producers. It will have corn, but organic non GMO Florida grown corn and it will be soy free.

His estimated price is somewhere in the $20's for 50lbs of vacuum sealed feed.

I'm still looking for a reasonably priced feed that has animal protein and not animal by products in it. After all chickens are omnivores aren't they.

Anyone have a senior moment lately? Well I did. Forgot to close the back gate on Big Boys run after I called them back to the pen.

He and his girls all got out while Red 1 and his girls were out. Well needless to say it was not a congenial meeting. I wish I had my video camera. After sparing a bit it was determined Red 1 lost and Big Boy was chasing him all over the yard with me right behind them. Red 1 got away and all his girls followed Big Boy back to the barn. Got the scratch and everyone got sorted out but it was a hell of an afternoon. By the way no chickens were injured in this accident but I'm not doing so well.
