OOOOOh stan You have Delawares ? Are you bringing any to the swap???

You don't really want to bring a new hen in with some other girls that are getting close to laying age.
First,  the new hen will upset the apple cart so to speak and could delay the existing girls from starting to lay.  Second,  when you bring in just one hen,  she has a hard time adjusting.  You should always bring in at least two birds at a time.  Third,  sometimes the new hens will stop laying due to the stress of being moved to a new environment.

It isn't always trouble bringing in new birds,  but it could be.

I picked up 3a new birds last week tjat are in quarantine right now so i was thinking that maybe one more would be om with such a small group. The one hen that may be laying amonth or so is in that group. So in that situation do you think jt coukd work? And that pen has a juvi ee and a paur of bantam cochin. The roo is almost 6a months and the hen is almost 5a months.

I can't make it out to the swaps, but have some birds for sale here in western West Palm Beach, if that's convenient for any of you folks. I might even be able to drive a little bit to meet you at the county line.

I have for sale:

White Embden goslings, 1 male & 2 females, $14 each, all 3 for $40
Purebred Magpie duck, young drake 6 weeks old, $14
10 mixed-breed ducklings, straight run, 2 weeks old, they look like RUNNERS in different colors, $7 each, all 10 for $60
Purebred SQ Americana roos, about 6 months old, glossy black & smoky blue, $19 each, both for $30

My moving date is coming up quickly. Only 3 more weeks.

I have 5 week old Muscovy ducklings and an adult pair for sale as well as 5 laying hens and 2 cornish cross that are at processing weight. I will consider any offers as I am not able to take them.
PM me if interested. Thanks

Cindy,
You will love stan's birds I have some of his Aussies and they are beautiful. There are some pics posted back a few pages.
Ahh, yes. The dumb chickens standing in the rain.

The girls (hopefully) here have the same timid personalities. They did not want to explore their new pen, and did not want me anywhere near them. It is going to take some time to win their trust. The Delawares, on the other hand, immediately explored everything and wanted attention. They are going to be my troublemakers.
Stan's Australorps actually look the way Aussies are supposed to look. There are so many bad looking Aussies out there, I am really pleased to have some of Stan's as part of my flock.

that is so cool! about stan ans the aussies. I thought that was going to be "my chicken"/favorite. I was wrong :)

Ok here are some pics of the hoop coop. All it needs is some clean sand.

I just had to include this pic. They hatched Mothers Day. Don't know how many hatched as she's still keeping them close. It's a little head sticking out. LOL

The Aussies are not any dumber than any of my other chicks. They did the same thing. As I said in my original post. They freecked out cause of the noise from the down pour of rain. My barn has a ceramic coated metal roof, magnify that by a 36 x 48 foot barn and when it rains its so loud you can't hear the person next to you talking. If you go back a few more pages you can find pics when they were dry.

I don't have Dels anymore!! Cindy just about got all I had left, except for a few I'm growing to pick replacements, and my breeders. Going to have to hatch some more if I can find a place to put them. Haven't said anything yet, but I don't think I'm going to be able to make the swap at your place either

. Found out Sunday that I had made other commitments. I would really like to see that hoop coop too. That is neat looking. Looks like it would be a good place to raise Del babies!! ....stan
