FLORIDA!!!!!ALWAYS SUNNY SIDE UP!!!

Nothing in my first bator hatched. Day 21 is tomorrow. One tried, but died. I didn't find out until last week that my automatic egg turner wasn't working My second bator goes on lockdown Sunday, so send me hatching vibes. The problem with Chickenholics Anonymous is that we would go to a meeting, talk about chickens, and feed each others addiction.

I'd like to find chicken people in my area. The swap this weekend sounds fun, but is two hours away from me.

Humidity level? Keeping the bator CLOSED??
I was going to ask the same things. My very first hatch in a Hovabator I had 27 viable eggs a week before lockdown, I had talked to Stan and he said not to worry about humidity ( dry hatch ) till lockdown, I had a malfunction and my bator was over 102 degrees , don't know how long but even with that I still hatched 14 of those eggs and probably would have had more if I had not felt the need to open and close it during hatching to get the chicks out who were pecking at the others who were zipping, I am hoping for better results this time!

I have a problem with the humidity level. It gets low, and I add spray some warm water when I'm turning the eggs. Then it goes too high. Is there a secret to getting it just right?

From Lake Wales, your not that far from me. East Polk Co. As far as the humidity goes, you need to find a container that has a surface area that will maintain the humidity at a constant level. You may have to experiment with different sizes until you find one that works. Depending on the relative humidity in your house. I've even used a shot glass. But hey it worked.

You put the shot glasses in your incubator? I add water to the indentations on the bottom.
I have a DIY incubator, the water trays are under the hatching area, and at times have to much of a surface area of water and the humidity gets to high. When that happens I use smaller containers and sometimes a shot glass is all it took to maintain at least a 20% humidity. I use the dry method and have more of a problem with too high humidity that to low. At least until summer when the AC is on.
