FLORIDA!!!!!ALWAYS SUNNY SIDE UP!!!

I wanna see wheaten pics!
YAY! 'cause I want to show off!

For starters, here's a few adult Wheaten Marans to give a reference - (not mine)

We got the chicks from a breeder who got hers directly from Bev Davis (famous Marans breeder) and has even beat out Bev in some shows here in Florida. Who knows if the last part is true, but we're just happy to have our chicks.
We ended up with 9 all total. 7 of them are a week old, one of these 7 is possibly a roo (I hope only one!) and also one of these is lame with a broken toe. (We were given her for free so we thought we'd take her and see how she does and hope for the best).
Now the other two are a bit over 2 weeks old. One of these is a pullet and one a roo. I think they are beautiful.

Here's the little ones. Can you spot the suspected male? (Probably not cause I think he's in the back)

These are the older ones. No trouble spotting the roo here! (Male Wheaten Marans show black in their feathers very early, the females mostly brown). Look at the tail of the female here (in the back) - Does it look blue-ish to you? Good eye! That is going to be a wonderful Blue-Wheaten.

The roo with his very rooster-ish comb. We named him Caesar. The lady behind him we named Brigitte.

We are on day three with them and we noticed one of them had passed a bit of bloody poo. We are administering Corid per instructions found here at backyard chickens and I think they'll be ok.

Side note:
The Marans are sharing the brooder with a few 5 day old Opringtons a neighbor brought by that she picked up at a yard sale cause she heard "that you guys liked chickens!" (Seriously? who brings someone animals without asking if they want them first?) Guess I have to make that hen house a bit bigger than I planned.

Hi Again Everybody!!!

I have a gorgeous blue bantam Langshan cockerel available if anyone is interested. We were going to use him for show, but my daughter has decided to focus on her Cochin bantams instead. Let me know if you have a FFA or 4-H member who may be looking for a great show bird.

Click the link above to see him...for some reason I can never get my pics to embed in these messages (SMH). PM me if you are interested. I am in Hillsborough County.

Welcome 4true! This group has been really helpful to me as a newbie chicken owner.one word of caution that I found out the hard way is that silkies are a little more delicate than the average chicken. If you want some input you could share what your goals are we could make some recommendations.

To the wheaten marans owner......I am so freakin in love! I might be selling some of my original flock to make room for a breeding pair.
