Florida Duck laws

Of course!

If it were me, and I am all for following laws and such, get what you want. Raise them/breed them/ keep them, whatever you want to do with them, and don't worry about it. Most of the time they won't even know about it unless you have neighbors that complain, or you inform them. Unless they have people enforcing it by "checking around" and making house/farm visits, how would they know? And what's the worst they can do, fine you for not having a permit?

Actually it's a misdemeanor and they take all your ducks, lol. Highly ridiculous but Florida takes their gaming laws very seriously.

It has to do with mallards. Probably why those breeds need a permit. They come from mallards. They don't fly though and mallards do. I know there are rules about buying mallards and bringing them into florida.

peachncrm37 is exactly right! Sorry I gave you bad info. 23 years of law enforcement in a rural area so I assumed I knew. We all know what happens when we assume...lol Took me a while to find the exact exemption but here it is:

I have 8 Pekin ducks. Muscovite and mallards move in from somewhere neighbor complains and code enforcement says I must catch all and get rid of is this legal?

Even your Pekins? @ruthhope?
Mallards are a wild duck why the heck would they want you to catch them and get rid of them?
Where in Fla are you?
Oh yes it's quite legal if they are not permitted and in a residential zone. Most suburban duck keepers are living under code enforcement radar and need to have nice neighbors who don't report them. Once a duck keepers is reported, unless they can meet local zoning requirements (where I live, no ducks are permitted but other jurisdictions may allow ducks on larger sized lots than mine) the ducks have to go.

This is why I recommend keeping muscovy so that they do not draw attention to themselves by quacking; and why I recommend liberally giving eggs to neighbors to keep them sweet.
