This is my first time owning chickens and these first 4 months have been quite the adventure.
I adopted two red sexlinks end of March who were said to be rhode islands. From their markings, I think they may be bovans goldlines, but I'm just guessing. I wanted four total so a week before Easter I adopted a cochin and a barred rock. Unfortunately, our dog got hold of the cochin...
That was my first lesson. Got into a big ordeal over the coop/run, nearly cost my relationship, that was my second lesson (don't ask too many questions, let the man do the job:).
First coop was a mistake and another ordeal...but things finally came together and we now have a decent set-up, coop with attached run, and a separate pen - may add poultry netting later.

Rosemary and Juniper are my sexlinks and Violet is the barred rock.
Juniper started laying a couple of weeks ago and Rosemary followed. That same week, Violet developed a respiratory issue which has been ongoing.
I will post in another thread for suggestions, poor thing is sneezing up a storm right now. It's been so rainy and damp here, and I'm hoping the run doesn't end up like a poopy mudpit.
Any advice on my set-up?

No. I thought the entire front door being wire was enough to start, but I am moving that up on the priority list. Originally the door (that's open) was just chicken wire but we added a layer of welded wire. I'll add ventilation window to the side compartment...but there is also the new door (always open) leading to the run.
Need to add perches too. There's one next to the nest boxes which they don't use.

You need more ventilation in the coop.
You could cut some wood out...think the shape of a rectangle up near the top...and cover it with hardware cloth.

Yep, in Florida you need lots of ventilation, good predator proof wire (especially snakes!) And a coop up off the ground for the rainy season. Florida is famous for fungal infections because of the moist climate. Good luck!

Welcome to BYC from middle Tennessee :frow You've already gotten great advice.:old
