Hey ther everyone! I do not have any chickens thus far but am hoping to acquire some soon. Right now I am researching and planning so I have all of my chicks in a row before bringing them to their new home. I am a mother of one, married to a man who supports but is hesitant to fully participate in my chicken venture, and we have three dogs. The albc recommends we get orpingtons, plymouth rocks, and javas so we are thinking all three in the long run, but will probably go for the orpingtons first. We are looking for dual purpose birds, but I have yet to kill my first chicken so we will see how dual purpose they will become,lol.
