flowers?

Can chickens eat flowers? Just ones like Dandelion Flowers and others like that.

They love dandelions and are a big fan of most flowers, they are especially fond of the kind that you pay for, plant and water daily.

Mine LOVE flowers!

My chickens eat dandelion flowers. But they aren't their favorites.

This morning I fed my chickens Bigleaf Maple Flowers.

I realize that chickens can eat things that we can't. But with flowers that I am dumping in their run consisting of dirt, I feel that I am tempting them to eat everything I give them. They might not have eaten it if they were free-ranging.

Oooh Okay! Hehehe they're going to be extra spoiled now XD They get treats a bunch and now that I know what kind of flowers they can have they'll just get even more XDD

I always thought that dandelions were poisonious and I used to pull them out of the ground whenever my chicks were outside thinking they were some deadly flower until I read on BYC that someone fed her chickens dandelions and they loved them. So I recently gave my 10 week olds some dandelions for the first time and they absoulutely LOVE it! Now they get dandelions pretty much daily!

Dandelions are fine, but you want to check the toxic list before you branch out to other flowers.
