I have a question. If your hens get the flu can you take their newest eggs and start a new flock?

Has there been avian influenza in your area? AI is not transmitted vertically through the egg. But if I had AI diagnosed in my flock, I probably would not hatch eggs and risk the new chicks from getting it by other exposure to deoppings or contaminated equipment and surfaces, until the disease disappears. Are you having to cull birds? Here are some facts about AI:

All is fine here. I was just wondering what we could do if we had a problem. It could be very hard in the future to get chicks. We have wild birds at our feeders and so far we have not found any dead or ill birds.
