Yep, I am getting it.

It's not the flu itself that kills people, usually it's the secondary bacterial infections. Recently (meaning, past decade) more and more bacteria are becoming antibiotic-resistant. No flu, no bacterial pneumonia.

Every year I've gotten a flu shot, I didn't get the flu. Every year I skipped it, I got the flu + a secondary bout of bronchitis or walking pneumonia. Works for me.

Nope, my chiro use to talk about these immunizations, and how bad they are for us, in reality. I am taking a wonderful multi-vitamin I order and a special antioxidant and going to take my chances. My 8 year old is also.

Well, here's our plan....

8yr old DD...regular flu shot
15 yr old DS...nothing...has egg allergy so cannot have vacs.
19 yr old DS...regular and H1N1...has asthma and 'weak lungs'. The flu could put him in the hospital.
Me...regular flu shot
DH...regular and H1N1

Both DH and 19yrold DS work with public...grocery market and WalMart. And since not everyone will heed the advice to STAY HOME when they are sick... Dh and Ds will have to be protected.

Everyone is taking a daily vitamin and will be adding vitamin D and C shortly. We've stocked up on cough drops, frozen orange juice, cold/flu remedies, tea etc.

Not paranoid, just want to have things on hand in case. Nothing worse than someone getting sick in the middle of the night and not having what you need/want.

I just hope that we all stay healthy...and all of you too!

Yup. I am getting it. My dh is getting it and our daughter is getting it.

I had H1N1 this past spring. It was 10 times worse than the "regular" flu. With the regular flu I can function. Not this one.
There is NO WAY I want to even possibly go through that hell again.
IV's, hospital stays, having to wear a mask, the pain, the risk to my heart and my families health. Then having to keep my kid home for a week and half because I was sick. But not being able to be near her. Not that I could move. Then the months long recuperation from it. I was weak and in pain for months after the "flu" symptoms were gone.
My husband had to take days off from work. Luckily he is salaried so he didnt loose pay. But I lost weeks of pay.

This year I hope to be working a regular full time job(PLEASE GOD!)
Not risking it. As soon as they get the vaccine in I am heading to the shot clinic.
