Fly Problem

Is there a safe, natural way to reduce the fly population around my coop? We've tried fly traps, but those stink so much, that it's hard to stay out there and hang with my hens. Someone said diatomaceous earth works. I also read somewhere that a gallon jug with water and vinegar works. Any opinions? Links to some good articles? I welcome it all!

You can try fly predators. They are harmless parasitic wasps that supposedly help bring down the fly population.

Get a few ducks. They seem to have taken care of the flies & mosquitoes around me. And I was worried that keeping all the water around for the ducks would increase my already very healthy mosquito population, instead I have none.

We've tried the vanilla scented car fresheners (look like little christmas trees). They have been suggested on here by quite a few folks and they seem to work. Have one in the coop, a couple in the un and one hanging near the poop container.

Predators would work the best.A bug to eat a bug! I clean often,and ended up making my chickens spend the summer far away from the house.I didn't have time to cover or scoop poop all over the yard.
