So a week ago I bought 4, four week old Muscovies cuz my flies and Mosquitos were starting to be a problem

. The babies are not big enough to free range with my older mallards and Pekins yet so they stay in a small run. I see them sitting around and catching flies as they go by but the flies are getting out of hand. I have tried some repellent plants, the car fresheners, and I have installed a bug zapper but the flies prevail. I am ready to grab my fly swatted and commence battle.

Buy a fly trap. They're a jar/bag that you put really stinky left-over food in and the flies can into the jar/bag but not out. The jar has a lid similar to the bag. As you can see from the photos, they're effective. I got them at a ranch/farm store.
My ducks are now old enough they are doing fairly well keeping the flies down, but I keep two of these jars around in case the flies start getting the upper hand!

I made bouquets of fresh rosary, sage, and dried bay leaves and hung around the duck pen. I also made the vanilla mint cups. I used cheap plastic ware from the dollar tree. Poke holes in the lid and added vanilla soaked cotton balls and mint. My fly population in the duck pen dropped way down.
