FLY STRIKE!!!! NEED HELP!!! GRAPHIC!!!

She's outside in the hospital coop right now. She's mostly sitting in the same spot. No maggots in sight. I washed the wound and applied h2o2 to it yesterday, then applied providone iodine solution. We aren't going to cull her today, because we're celebrating fathers day and are all over the place. Would an ether culling affect the outcome of a necropsy? I'm worried that maybe whatever she had before the fly strike wasn't a reproductive issue, and maybe was contagious.

I think you are doing the best you can Ruby.

I don't think an ether culling would effect necrospy except for there being more blood in the body to deal with. So It might be more messy.

You may want to contact your state poultry lab and ask about whether the ether will affect the results or not. I do know that most labs don't want a vet to Euthanize since the drugs can skew results.

X2 Ruby...I just read yesterday how someone was told to NOT use anything to put their bird to sleep before sending it in for a necropsy.
I'm sorry she isn't doing well Roob.
:hugs
