Was sorting out the feathered babies tonight when Mylo flew out of her pool and over the fenced surround!!! I thought they couldn't get off the ground! Do I have a super duck? She did think I had blackberries and wanted to get to them before the hens lol!

My Pekins can fly 2-3 feet in there air over several yards. They've never flown over fences tho!
If you don't want Mylo flying you could clip her wings.

Luckily it was only a small decorative surround and I don't think she could clear the outer fence. I was so shocked lol I'd been busy telling ppl that they don't fly!! Worst case if she strays too far I will have to clip her wings, it's just too dangerous for her. Does the clipping hurt?

You could always fatten her up...which is why pekins normally don't fly. Dense body, not very powerful wings. Of course you don't want her to be an unhealthy weight either (hard on the legs). But clipping is the best idea.

Yip she's a nice weight at the minute, so perhaps clipping is the way to go! :)

I believe in our learning section(stickies at the top) is info on clipping. I can honestly say my pekin have never even made it 12 inches off the ground lol I am surprised!

Thanks will have a look! I know, I nearly dropped my bucket lol. It must of been the thought of the hens getting to me first! :)

My female pekin has made it as high as my waist and flew a good 4 feet completely off the ground. Btw, I am 5' 4" tall. I was so shocked all I could do was stare. She's 5 months old
