Flying?

I was just wondering, how high chickens can actually fly? I sometimes free range my chickens, but I am always out there when I do. I was wondering if they would be able to fly over the 6 foot fence...

Depends on the breed & size of chicken...small bantams will get on roofs of sheds or in trees.

I have production reds that are standard size

then probably not? i wont say they cant but it would be difficult for them

i wouldnt but its just personal preference for me i free range all day and keep breeds that fly very well one of my roos easily cleared 12 feet of chicken wire straight up and they roost high enough i dont have to worry about raccoons or possum

I wish I could do that, i live in a neighbor full of dogs so I wouldn't want them to try and clear a fence, not, and then get attacked
