Can Buff Orpington's fly out of a 4 ft. fence? I'm trying to find a breed of chickens that are not flighty. Would like to free range when I don't have a garden and not worry about hens flying over the fence to the neighbors yard.

Anyone have a specific breed they recommend?

If I had to keep chickens in a 4 ft fence it would be covered or the chickens would have their wings clipped.

My buf orpingtons have never tried to hop the 4' fence from the western into the central back yard. Nor have they tried to tunnel under the gate. Unlike some of their compatriots who have tried one or both--usually successfully.

Any normal chicken can clear 4' if it wants to. Problem is you can't predict whether they'll want to.

Silkies can't fly, and that would be an awful big hop for them, so you'd prolly be safe with silkies, if you consider them chickens <ducking and running
