Our 2yr old hen had runny poop for a bit, never figured out why. Now she has flystrike. We were just now able to get to her due to me just having knee replacement surgery last Friday. I had cleaned her 2 days before my surgery and this was not an issue. My husband brought her in and washed her off with epsom salt & water, removed as many of the tiny magots as possible, trimmed feathers around the area and sprayed with Vetericyn plus wound care spray. Sorry I don't have an "after" photo. He moved her inside, so no more flies can get to her and he can do the epsom soaks twice a day. What else could we do do help her please? Thank you in advance for any and all help.

You need to see how deep the maggots are in her. You may need to use a syringe with diluted betadine to get the deeper ones (basically debriding). Trim those feathers around her vent and keep the area dry (blow dryer on low)except for the vetrycin wound care you are using. Vitamins and electrolytes are in order. Otherwise, you are doing great.

First soak of the day. There was NO noticeable, moving larva and we removed as many "white" dots that we thought could be eggs, as possible. We soaked her in epsom salt water for about 20 min. Washed her with regular, dawn dish soap, rinsed and did it again a few more times. I trimmed all the feathers that are around her rear and some under her belly area that had poop on it.

She has watery poop still. Any tips to help firm her poop again?

We're feeding her probiotics, poultry cell rooster booster, small amount of full fat plain yogurt, ground up egg shells, small amount of rice, small amount of plain sardine, scratch, normal feed, small amount of diced up garlic and some scrambled egg.

Plus we plan to add Bragg's ACV to her water to build good gut health.

She's lost weight we noticed and her crop seems very empty.

We need to find a way to stop the watery poop and get her back to good health and a good crop.

Thank you for those able & willing to help

One of my girls recently had a vent prolapse with near constant diarrhea. I had to trim all her back end feathers and some under her. It was so bad. after a few wash and blow dry sessions I gave her 1/4
immodium tablet. It was the white multi symptom powdery caplet.

That was a game changer and she is fine now.

We'll be buying the immodium tablet's tomorrow. We're doing a corid treatment at the moment. Would you know if this would be ok to give her while on corid?
