Do you have chick starter? Chick starter is a good choice. It's easy to digest for her.I just gave her a few drops, she didn't seem to mind to much. I will see if it helps her out. What are some good foods to feed her to help her heal quicker?
Do you have chick starter? Chick starter is a good choice. It's easy to digest for I hope ur chicken makes it..i think ur doin a great job..keep us posted on her recovery. Some people might think this is crazy...when my horses or dogs have serious wounds...i use a joint supplement..my old horse had an awful gash..all the way down the hip bone..another had a small fracture in his shoulder(differnttimes). We put them on double doses..it helps with bones, muscles and cartlidge repair. We give it to our arthritic dog..take it for arthritis ourselves. Never used it on a chicken...but if i had a seriously hurt bird...i would not hesitate to use it. U could also try a collagen (for nails)supplement...or plain jello(collagen). Sprinkle it on her food/water. It will help with tissue repair. Collogen is a simple protein..its in our tissues and skin.
I do have lots of chick starter because I have some chicks right now. should I give some to her, and how much should I give?Do you have chick starter? Chick starter is a good choice. It's easy to digest for her.
Yes I was planning on giving her a Epsom salt soak in the mourning. I think this will help sooth her and relieve some pain. I will also apply more antibiotic. Today I gave her a few drops of nutridrench in her mouth. Should I keep doing this every few hours during the day?You can give NutriDrench up to 3 ml per day by mouth. It can be more economical that way, rather than putting it in water. Sorry about your hen. You have done well treating her. I probably wouldn't use the peroxide more that the one time. A good way to treat fly strike is to soak them in warm soapy water or water with Epsom Salts once a day until all of the maggots have left. The screw worm ointment is supposed to be good at fly prevention. In hot weather messy vent feathers can attract flies. I know I have a couple of hens right now who need butt baths. Hopefully your hen will get better soon with your help.
She is around 6 or 7 years old. I will see if she will eat some scrambled eggs, yogurt, applesauce, and maybe tuna. How old is ur hen? I feed chick starter to my babies 1st week. Then i put them on grower. I also feed mealworms, eggs, greens, squash, melons and bread. Chopped or scrambled eggs r a nice supplement....some people also recommend yogurt and applesauce for sick birds. I like to give high pro food and any sort of high oxidant veg for muscle, bone or bad wounds. Tuna is great to.
