Foamy eye?

My Indian runner Thelma Lou has this going on with her eye. I caught her and cleaned it up. It had a lot of dried gunk around it. It still seems to be leaking though. Also to note: she gets overmated by a drake in our flock. What can I do to treat this?

For an eye like that, I would likely flush it well with some saline, gently wipe off any gunk, and apply an ophthalmic ointment such as Terramycin. You can repeat that twice a day if needed. If the drake is the causative agent to her eye problem, that problem should be resolved as well, or it will likely reoccur. Providing clean head deep water for her to dunk her head in is crucial for short, and long-term eye care.

Because not everywhere has an avian vet within a reasonable distance and not everyone can afford or wants to pay for a vet to see a bird.



I agree with @Isaac 0 I did the same when my drake lost an eye

She is better now. Isolated for 2 days and applies terramycin ointment and it cleared it right up!
