My girls are 4 weeks old and I am wondering if they need food in their coop at night. I know they need access to water 24/7 but what about food? When I put them to bed, I put their food and water in there with them, and in the morning, take it ouside and freshen it for the day. Do they get on a schedule where they only eat during the daylight hours?

omg, how I love these birdies!

I always left the food in the brooder and coop for my chickens. If it's dark, they can't get to it anyway.

I'm not raising the cornish cross or anything. They may be different.

Mine have food and water inside the coop 24/7 and fresh water in the run 24/7. They have access to the coop anytime they want during the daytime hours. I know that they get up early and some eat/drink earlier than the older hens who stay on their roost much longer. The younger ones are up much earlier and eat and drink much earlier. I have seen the older ones chase the younger ones away from the feed when they get up. I guess the younger ones eat when they can?
