Hi all,

My chicks are only three weeks so they aren't outside yet. Do I out food and water in the coop AND the run?

We have the food in the coop, water in the run.

For awhile we had water both inside and out but didn't want the extra moisture due to possible spills in the coop during the winter, so took the coop water out and never put it back. We have an auto popdoor that opens at dawn so the chickens have access even if we're late getting up to the coop.

I keep food and water in the coop, and in the warmer months, I put out an extra water fount. I keep the feed in the coop, I don't want to be feeding the local wild bird population around here. And feed out side the coop can draw rodents.

I also do as jackE.

Also, when warming water in winter, it is more effective when waterer is indoor.

I use lights. They allow quite a few extra hours in the winter, inside the coop. Thus food and water inside is necessary.

Outside gets all treats tossed in the deep litter.
