Aloha,
I have been searching the internet learning about caring for backyard chickens during this time I have seen many coops my question is about the placement of food and water some put it inside the coop and some put it in the run I wondering where it should go ?
Mahalo.

That depends on how you prefer to set up your coop and run.

For my in-town chickens I had a predator-hardened run so I left the coop door open to give the chickens 24/7 access to the run. The run was roofed on the farther half and I kept the food and water there, just inside the access door where it was convenient for me to fill it.

I made that decision because the coop was small, only 4x4. I didn't think that there was really enough room in there for the food and water and figured that they'd get knocked over easily if the chickens were too crowded.

In a larger facility, especially in my hot, humid climate, and especially if I were not allowing 24/7 access to the run, I'd probably at least have a second source of water in the coop just in case I couldn't let them out for some reason.

We have a coop and a totally enclosed run due to the predators in the area. We have food /grit/shell in PVC style feeders inside the coop (right as you open the human door) that take up little room. We also have a PVC style waterer with a 1 gallon jug supply inside the coop that's within arms reach of the human door. This takes up a little bit of room. We went with inside due to our climate - we have highs up in the 90s during the summer and lows in single digits (if not in the negatives) in the winter.

We also have a 2nd waterer out in the run that is kept in the shade. We wanted to ensure a secondary water supply in case something happened (prop door got shut, waterer malfunctioned etc).
