Does anyone have any suggestions on how to keep chicks from knocking over their food and water? Right now the water is elevated about 3 inches.

Depending on what you are keeping them in , you can hang them up on a board or something . I also will sometimes use marbles for the water container so they are less likely to make a mess with the water.

How many chicks do you have? The 1 quart waterers are very light weight, but the gallon waterers are more heavy, and withstand chicks hopping on top. They should be emptied and cleaned every day or more often. I use small pieces of 2 inch thick boards or bricks to set feeders and waterers upon. Of course with small chicks, they need to be watched closely to make sure their water or feed does not run out. They are amazing at scratching pine shavings everywhere, and ruining the water. Having 2 of each is also a good idea so they don't go without. Keep the feeders at shoulder height and keep raising them as they grow.
