NOT making fun- I really thought it was a joke at first, I didnt know, I mean that. I was not trying to make fun, I promise- I have waaaaaayyy to little knowlege of chickens to EVER really make fun of anyone. That last line was just a little joke- not meant to hurt feelings. I cannot express to you enough how bad I feel now, I really didnt mean any harm. I will immediatly go to edit and remove.

Oh no, don't feel bad, no need to.

the sure fire way to learn who is laying what is to do it like a breeding dog put it in a cage and when it lays you will know who is laying what.

It is just that simple

It might be that simple if I could afford to go buy some more cages, but without a job right now, it's really not that simple for me. I don't have separate cages right now to do that.

But, thanks for the advise. I know that is the simplest way to do it.

Thats the kind I use and have no problems at all. Lasts for around 5-7 days depending on the hen. You have to insert the bottle dropper into the vent and squirt it out. I did this all last year also, and never had any problems. I also put some food coloring around the vent.

I put 2 drops in each vent, I thought that was enough. Maybe not??? How much do you use? I opened the vent to make sure that it got down in there. I'll try again.

I have had success using the water based food coloring. I got blue streaks on one egg, red streaks on another, and green on another. Maybe you didn't put enough in? Or not deep enough in?
