food for chickens besides their meal

I now give our hens, layer food, homemade crumbles, from a farmer sells, so far so good., and plenty of it and water, when it doesn'''t freeze over as quick as we give it. What else shall I FEED THE CHICKENS, i also give them scratch and grit now and then, on the ground. THEY ALSO FREE RANGE ABOUT 2 OR 3 HOURS A DAY. should and could I GIVE THEM OTHER FOODS ALSO? iF SO WHAT?
