Hiya, I have one duck who will be living with a bunch of chickens once he/she comes off heat. Does she need duck-specific food or can she/he eat the chicken food? Thanks.

Mine eat the same feed as my chickens, which currently is layer pellets since they are all the same age. My geese are on this too, but we also free range them in the late afternoon/evenings so they get their "greens" as well.

We feed our ducks, chickens and guineas the same food as well. We too give them all layer pellets, but before they were of laying age we fed them gamebird maintenance. Hope that helps.

Editted because I'm typing words that don't match what I'm thinking.

I feed mine Purina Flockraiser and and another brand called Multiflock. Both of those formulas are designed to meet the needs of a mixed flock.

ETA: both of those feeds are also designed to be beneficial to young growing birds and mature birds (however, you will need to put out a calcium sourse, such as oyster shell, if you have laying hens).
