Food got rained on

I just put fresh feed in my chickens' run feeder yesterday morning and last night, despite having a tarp over the entire run, it got rained in. Now it's turned to mushy crumbles. Is it still okay for them to eat as long as it isn't moldy? It has only been out of the bag for a day.

Yes. As long as there is no mold, it should be fine.
Some even prefer their food a little wet.

My chickens love wet crumbles. I give daily as long as temps are above freezing.
I would toss out any leftover wet feed after today. GC

yes. it makes your feed like a mash. which chickens do enjoy. if they are not at it then toss it out. but id be surprised if they didn't eat it.

any wet feed not eaten the day it got wet is perfect for a compost.

Thanks for the replies. I'll let them eat at it today and I'll toss whatever is left tomorrow AM. I just hate to waste any more of it that I have to.

When that happened to me with a full feeder, i scooped it all out into a big tray, placed in the sun, and let them eat it.
A, they love wet food (I put some in a container and soak it as a tear for them- they go crazy for it!),
B, it dried up super fast (sun came out)
and they finished the whole thing in less than 2 days.

Honestly, I think they enjoyed the "new serving form" as much as the food being wet... they enjoy new things as much as anyone!
