The other day the feed store was out of oystershells so i decided to try a bag of the food grade calcium. My chickens dont seem to be eating any of it and their shells are soft. I plan on just dumping the calcium in the pen and replaceing with oystershells. My question is this, is the food grade calcium just regular limestone, which it appears to be, or is it a processed form of calcium, the bag doesnt say. It actually looks like it would be a better source of grit than calcium.
