When I have something liquidy (like when I made apple butter and blended the cores after it was cooked) I toss in some of their regular food and leave it to thicken it up. They are happier eating it that way.

OH MY GOSH SUCH A BEAUTIFUL ROOSTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I think this because just giving them scratch made in factories isn't very good, yes, I still give them scratch but also lots of scraps no matter what it is. Chickens can eat anything really if it is not poisoned.
I agree 100% I feed my chickens a small dog dish of scratch every day they laid ok and then I feed them just 100% cracked corn and their laying increased so much so even lay twice a day!
Mine too! In two days I get about five eggs! Good production and healthier hens!
How many hens do you have? I have 13 and a rooster
We feed out chickens scraps all the time, we are a 4-H family, and have produced the grand champion and reserved champion egg layers for two years in a row in our county fair. We stick with not giving the foods on the toxic list, and out chickens look forward to when we come with scraps. we also give them old bread from the bread store, they go crazy for it!
