Food Scraps?

In the wild chickens eat anything they find that's why they are such survivors. Chicken feed of any kind is what they need!!!! no more no less. Scraps are a supplement to a very bland diet. Compare it to having cheerios three meals a day for the rest of your life. Why not they have every thing you need and their heart healthy. Bottom line for me is scraps add some thing to a domestic animals diet that they would normally find in the wild.

My Chickens get table scraps and friends and family are always dropping something off for them to eat. They love Tomatoes, noodles, oatmeal, and rice. I don't feed mine potato peelings as they have no interest in them. I dig worms for my flock a couple times a week too, if they see me coming with that shovel its like a group of teenage girls seeing a good looking boy lol. I think it's funny that the Rooster still announces when he has found some food I have placed in the run, like my girls wouldn't find it on their own. Think about it, when chickens free range they are eating everything they find whether its from the garden, compost area, or out of the dog and cat food bowl. Cuts down on the cost of feed if you ask me...

Sounds like your rooster is smart and understands Pavlov's Classic Conditioning theory!

It isn't about your hens finding the food, it is about him saying "food!" and then hens all racing over.

Here they are eating their Favorite chicken surprise they gobble it down real fast. This is my brown leghorns They are growing fast. 2 months old
I feed my dogs raw chicken leg bones after the majority of te near has been stripped from the bone but there are still big chunks. I tried boiling them to release the meat from the bone but they never did. Just turned brown like is roasted them. Any ideas? I've got 2 grocery stores that are going to give me their clippings from the produce dept. Everyone's stingy about anything meat and bone related here. I used to get the beef bones that they throw away but now they sell them. I get fish heads from an Asian market and my dogs love them raw. See anything wrong with cooking some fish heads in this concoction?
