Food & Water - Inside or Out?

I keep food and water inside, and then another waterer outside. The ducks seem content with that, Nice coop by the way.

Well, when I fed outside in daytime , local birds thought it was a smogasboard. So I put it inside and the birds still flew in. i fed at night, and have mice......sheesh...at least the ducks eat mice!!!

My food (small pellets) is just inside the duck house where it stays dry. The water (autowaterer and a separate pond) is out in the pen about 10 feet away. They have no problems walking between the two and it helps to keep them exercised. As others have said if they are too close together your feed will end up wet and the waterer will end up with half the feed in it. I use steel dog bowls for food and a dog autowaterer with float valve for water: http://www.kingstons.net.au/products/Miss-Aqua-WATERER.html

We have two saint Bernards and one Boston terier, will be adding a kitten to so wilt a large barn we willl keep the chicks out there till they are little bigger, figure fence, them in,would be the best way!
