I am going to have a 4' x 6' coop for 6 birds. My roosting bar is going to run down the middle length wise. I know when birds roost, they poop.
Am I going to have a problem finding somewhere to put my water dish/food dish?
The Set Up:
The pop door is on one of the 4' ends, and the 3 nest boxes are at the other 4' end (opposing wall 6' away).
Where would you all put the food/water? Near the pop door? Midway? or near the nesting boxes? And, if it is just off to the side against the wall, it should be safe from falling 'roost poop' correct?
Thanks,
Steve

i would build a poop board just under the roosting board and put food and water under that for protection

It would be better to put it closer to one wall. That way you can have the droppings board go all the way to the wall, meaning you can put food and water under it and have ti much much better protected. Also the droppings board will likely be easier to clean that way. Also it will be much easier for the chickens to get up/down, as they'll have more horizontal room on that side of the roost.

JMO, goo dluck, have fun,

I hang both of mine. One large feeder and one 5-gallon bucket with nipples on the bottom for a drinker. Hang the feeder even with the top of their backs and hang the drinker so the bottom just clears their heads as they walk under it. They look up and drink. Simple.
