Foods on the counter or foods in the fridge??

Actually putting them in the fridge once they are ripe slows them from over ripening, although the skins turn a nasty brown the inside flesh is perfect.

But in my house the whole reason my family asks for bananas is to ignore them until they are over-ripe and then say oh darn, guess you have to make banana bread

That is true putting bananas in the frig makes them last longer.

I don't put my bananas in the fridge when I do have them I can't stand a plain banana it makes me gag. I use to by them for the kids but no kids here anymore. I do love banana bread though and things baked with banana in them, muffins, and pancakes. I also like cold cereal with fresh banana but don't eat that hardly at all.

Potatoes don't go in the fridge here either.

I also put my flour, corn meal, oatmeal, and like in the freezer to keep weebles and bugs out of it. I don't use it fast enough.

I wanted to also ad if you wrap your veggies in a paper towel, lettuce, celery etc. and then put in the fridg. a crisp draw is even better they will stay fresh way longer. Some veggies need air in the bag and some don't also to stay fresh longer.

me too all of the above and when we start getting eggs those will join the rest on the counter.

See somebody had said yesterday on another thread they leave their eggs out on the counter and I was in shock!! Haha I always thought they had to get in the fridge right away or they's go bad?? And they said they really keep for months (until they float in water) in that case they would throw them away. So I was wondering what other foods would be ok to leave out~ Haha I was fascinated

So looks like I need to make a spot for the onions and potatoes also!

Yea I think I will have to do that with some of my produce because the plastic bags they give you in the store seems to trap the moisture in with the lettuce and makes it go soft! So I will have to try the papertowels! And I love making Bananna Bread with them Bannana's

I always put apples and bell peppers in the fridge. I eat the peppers raw and they both stay crisper in the fridge and tend to last longer. You should never store veggies/fruits in the plastic bags from the grocery store.

Tomatoes, onions, avocados don't go in the fridge until they are cut. If you eat a lot of avocados (like I do), if you cut it in half, leave the pit in and wrap it with saran, it won't go brown for a least a day.
