Foot edema from bandage

And the other foot is fine?
My guess is it was too tight, and it inhibited the circulation - not enough to kill the foot or cut off blood, but enough that it’s serious. And because the blood didn’t circulate like it should have, her foot became frozen and frostbitten.

Yes, I think that’s probably what happened because any simple edema would have resolved by now. Also, I was the one who wrapped her foot/leg before I took her to the vet. I asked him how to properly wrap a chicken’s leg and he answered. So my bad.

While I’m still learning, how would you have treated the nail injury? I’m sure I’ll run into it again!

Did the fluid bubbles look anything like on this chick in the article?

Yes, they absolutely look like that only bigger. So between you and @TheOddOneOut, I’m pretty certain it’s frostbite in some form. I’m fortunate to have a super avian/poultry vet about 1.5 hours away, so I’ll be making an appointment with her this week. I’m so glad the other vet gave me meloxicam for BB because it can’t be comfortable :(:(. I’ll also keep epsom soaks going.

Thanks so much for your help!

That was bad advice from the vet.
There’s no need to do a full-foot wrap for a little toe bleed - and this sure caused a much larger problem than it solved.
Has her foot improved at all?
It looks like it’s a bit better, but not normal by a long shot. I’ll post more photos tomorrow. Thankfully she’s still eating and drinking normally. Thanks for your help!

I agree that it is probably frostbite, but I would just continue to do the warm soaks and leave it open. A little Chlorhexidene 2%, or plain Neosporin ointment on the split skin may help it to heal. Frostbitten feet always takes some time to see how much damage has occurred. Hopefully, you caught the swelling and got the wrap of in time. Let us know how she gets along.

I thought it probably had looked similar just checking before I posted more, but @Eggcessive got:)
Glad you will be able to see the Avian vet.
