Hi my 8 week old chicken somehow got both feet all cut up. I’m checking for what caused it but I was hoping to get some advice on what to use. Is there a good antibiotic cream or spray that anybody feels is best? Also should I leave her with the flock or bring her in while it heals?

Any antibacterial cream should work. How large are the cuts? Once you put the cream on wrap the foot up so it won't get dirty. If they are large cuts you may need to bring her inside, if their not so big you should be able to keep her in the flock.

Can you post some photos of the feet/wounds?

Ok I’ll use what I have I attached a picture. The cuts do look dirty. I’m trying to soak them clean

All the dirt is wound. I’m trying to soak them clean and I’ve brought her inside
Thank you for the photos.

How is she kept - what's the brooder/coop and run like?

Is the loose black "scabbing" underneath the foot too (what's the bottom of the foot look like)?

I would do as you are doing. Soak the feet but add something to the water like Chlorhexidine (hibiclens), betadine or epsom salts, then gently work on sloughing off that skin - it make take a few days.

Dry the feet well, then apply triple antibiotic ointment or vetericyn to the feet.

I would not wrap them. Keep her on clean dry bedding, I would kennel or cage her - puppy pads is what I would use for "bedding". Ideally it's best to place them near/with the flock so they stay familiar - so if there's a way to place the cage inside the coop/run that would be good.

The bottom of the foot looks great. It’s the weirdest thing. They have a 12x20 foot Chain link run with dirt and shaving floor. I have gone all around the bottom to check for any sharp stuff. I’m wondering about raspberry vine as a possibility. So I’ve trimmed those back
Ok I have her inside but maybe tomorrow I’ll leave her in the kennel but put it in the coop. I don’t want her to be an outcast when she comes back

As I’m soaking her feet she took a step and her nail sliced into her leg skin. What the hec!? Has anyone ever seen this?
