Husband said it’s hard.Does it feel hard to the touch or swollen? It could be Bumblefoot, I am not sure because of the color of the scab.
Okay thank you. I will pick up the supplies I need to take care of this. After looking online at other hens with that color of foot it definitely looks like bumble foot. There were a few pictures with injuries on the toes that looked like your picture. You do want to take care of this because the infection will continue to swell and deform the foot and can lead to foot loss or blood poisoning. If it is bumble foot then the hard area right behind the scab is an infection that has hardened into a corn kernel looking lump. As long as that stays in there the foot will continue to swell because the infection is trapped. The good news is that the placement on the foot looks easy to reach without going too far in.
We got an iodine cleanser, neosporin, gauze, vet wrap and scalpels. We did pick up some blu kote for when it’s a little more healed. Not sure if it’s actual bumblefoot or not. We cut into it but didn’t see any sign of infection. No hard kernal no puss. Wondering if it’s just a deformity now. We’ll keep it clean and wrapped until it healsWhat supplies are you using? I understand, I'm hoping to remove some infection from one of my hens today but it depends on my husband's schedule too since I need someone to hold her steady.
