Hi - Call me a newby I have never posted anything on a cmputer before but my chickens are in need of some help. I have 12 birds a few Aracaunas and some of my Black Sex Links have this round bulbous thing on the end of thier toes I have like 3 birds who have this right now. At first I thought it was dries mud but then it won't come off. They are not acting sick and are still eating and walking around and acting normal but the one bird has got a large ball on the end of her toe now. What is this and what do I do? It sounds like bumble foot or bubble toe. I am not quite sure. I raised these birds from chicks and they are just about a year old and have never had any issues with them till now.

Thanks for any help'

Suzanne

I agree that it sounds like bumble foot, but I have never dealt with it personally. All I know is what I've read here, which says that you have to open it up and remove the "core" of the infection. Do a search on here, and you'll find lots of good info. Also, if you can get a picture, those that have dealt with it before will be able to tell you if that's what it is. Good luck!!

Oh, and...

Be concerned. Could it be bumblefoot? My little banty rooster just lost his foot today due to that ailment. I had no idea. Be careful they do not lose their toes.
